› Session Abstract: Electronic Ombuds

I’ve started working on a session on the practice of online ombuds – especially as it applies to Free Software and Open Source communities. The session is based on my work in the Free Software, PHP, Mozilla, MySQL and Open Source communities - in particular, recent work (which I need to get back to) on [...]

› Planning my SCALE 6x Attendance

In about a week, I’ll be heading down to Los Angeles to participate in SCALE 6x, the sixth annual Southern California Linux Expo. In addition to visiting the event, I’ll be giving my Age of Literate Machines presentation, updated for 2008 and supported by more research. I’ll be joining another Mozillion - Chris Blizzard, who [...]

› 20000 km, $7000, 7 days and 10 tons of CO2

… or, “Making Event Attendance Count” Late last year, I gave a keynote at paired Finnish conferences MindTrek and OpenMind. While the events were well worth attending, afterwards I spent a few bleak hours thinking about the actual costs of my attendance. If I had left Canada just for these events (which, thankfully, I [...]

› eZMail Debug updated for eZ publish 4.0.0

I realise that with the newish (introduced in version 3.9) "file" mail transport option can be used to debug mail, but in some cases it's easier if the system actually sends the mail (to me and not the intended precipitant). So I've updated the subversion repository of Kristof Coomans' eZMail Debug patch to work with eZ Publish 4.0.0

To use, simply download the patched ezmail.php from http://pubsvn.ez.no/community/trunk/hacks/ezmaildebug/patches/4.0.0/lib/ezutils/classes/ezmail.php
and save it to lib/ezutils/classes/ezmail.php of your eZ Publish 4.0.0 install.

Remember that if you are using SMTP transport..."Due to a bug in eZ Publish 4.0.0, you need to download the updated version of the "ezsmtp" class and replace the corresponding file in your installation in order to use an SMTP relay server for mail delivery. This bug will be fixed in the upcoming eZ Publish 4.0.1 release." (From http://ez.no/doc/ez_publish/technical_manual/4_0/reference/configuration_files/site_ini/mailsettings/transport )

› Busy 2008...

Didn't get much time to write this month... Projects, international partner meeting, certification... Seems like 2008 is even more busy. Some big projects running, some more and bigger coming up, our little team is growing. It's good that February will at least be a bit longer this year ;)
