Planet eZ publish

2 weeks after our release candidate, I am very proud that we released eZ components 1.0 today.

As usual, you can download the archives (tar.bz2, zip) from our website or use the PEAR Installer:
$ pear upgrade ezc/eZComponents
or
$ pear install components.ez.no/eZComponents
(note that you don't need ...-beta anymore! ;)
Beside some bug fixes, we concentrated on documentation in the past two weeks: Each component has now an introductory tutorial in it's online documentation and the API docs have been revised.
Sebastian has already brought the 1.0 release into Gentoos portage tree, so they are available through its fabulous emerge command (currently soft-masked, but that should be gone, soon).
Now we'll start working on 1.1! :)
If you have any suggestions on enhancements for 1.1 or have any other feedback, please let us know in our forum!

These days I find myself pointing people at Eventum, MySQL's bug tracking application. There are things I personally have "issues" with in the way Eventum is written but those are really just my personal taste.
Here's a question… If someone comes to you and asks "How do I organise myself in PHP?", what do you say? In particular, if they are an experienced programmer in other languages but still learning their way around PHP. The question I'm really asking is what application(s) would you point people at as an example for how to do PHP.
He talks about what he likes about their system and what benefits it has for potentiial/beginning PHP developers. He also asks for comments on what other PHP applications that developers could be pointed to as an example of good structure, a "blueprint"...

Friends, I'm sure the post would be a heck of a lot funnier if instead of "How" I would write "Why", but I'm sticking to "How" for...now.
He says some about what Eclipse is and how it can be extended, specifically mentioning the PHPeclipse Project.
The PHPeclipse project aims to create a full featured PHP IDE with features like internal PHP parser, debugger, code formatter, outline view, templates and much more.
There are also a foew other tools he mentions: a Subversion plugin, XMLBuddy, and the JSEclipse plugin...

The German-speaking eZ publish community teamed up to create http://www.ezpublish.de, where you can find a forum, articles and a weblog.
I wrote a guest tutorial about designing eZ publish which describes for beginners how to customize the CSS and templates.
Those of you speaking German are invited to contribute, e.g. by being active in the forums, writing articles or blog entries. This page describes how to contribute.
